...I am so amazed at what you are doing for these rabbits. It's an overwhelming task, rabbit rescue, no matter how you look at it. There are not nearly enough resources as for dog/cat rescuers and the 'authorities' have little or no compassion for rabbits. Stay Hoppy...

Hi Lejla, I finally have pictures for you! The first one is when Luke first saw the bunnies. The second is Luke so happy to meet his "pink bunny named James." And the third picture is Luke singing a song to James. Hope you are doing well. Thanks again for the bunnies. They are so beautiful and sweet - a great addition to our family.

Hello Lejla, Thank you for the wonderful picture of the bunnies and the information on neutering my Bunny Boy and Bunny Girl. I wanted you to know that they are both doing absolutely fantastic! Both BB and BG have gotten quite big and have each gained lots of weight to fill out their growing bodies. They have distinct personalities BB is still a bit aggressive with me but loves Bob (my husband) BG is so sweet and charming that she just makes your heart melt. BB has been neutered and I have them separated for now until he is completely healed. The clinic used the right anesthetics and he was back to his feisty little self by the next day. They have nice big houses that together fill up an entire corner of our living room and we are making plans to build a bunny run for summer fun. Thank you for saving them and please know they are much loved.

Lejla, you are very kind to try to save these babies. But the best way would be to contact local law enforcement and get them to try and *shut down* these illegal operations. I wish I could help more, but here I am on the other end of the country! You are an angel to try to save them, but please don't burn yourself out. If you do that, who will save the bunnies? Just remember that despite all our efforts we cannot save them all.

I know it's really a big undertaking to take care of all of them and find them homes. Thank God for people like you, Alinda at RabbitMatch and Michelle at Los Angeles Rabbits.

Hi, Lejla! WOW...YOU ARE AWESOME!! You saved all those bunnies by rallying up all those helpful people! OMG...they are SO, SO adorable!!! Cute, sweet little bunnies!!! You are truly the Bunny Angel =:) You are doing great things for the bunnies.

We all go through this in rescue...it is hard especially with bunnies because you have to work harder...spay/neuter, the shelters, downtown selling etc. It's rough but when you look into their eyes and they know you are working as hard as you can it is all worth it. It's a tough world out there and it is really tough when you do not have a voice...we are the only voice for the animals and thank God we are doing it.

Dear Lejla, Bonnie is doing fine. He is in his play pen back in San Luis Obispo with us. I sat in there with him for awhile and seemed to get used to things. Chuck kept him on his lap this evening. So everyone is fine. You are a dear, caring person. The world is a better place with your compassionate nature.

Dear Lejla, Bunny has found the strangest friend. In the evening after dinner the family goes up to the loft. Lorie and I watch TV. Bunny has the run of the loft with a small container to eat and do his business in. Shortly after we go upstairs Dusty, one of our cats, joins us. The cat and Bunny sniff each other, the cat moves away rolls on its back and signals for the bunny to come over and play. They do this tentatively but consistently. The bunny and dogs pay little attention to each other. While the cat is in the room, Bunny runs around, pirouettes in the air several times and seems to enjoy himself. While Lorie went down stairs to get a glass of water the bunny jumped onto her chair and was waiting for her when she came back. It seems he is in good spirits...

Hi Lejla, The bunnies are doing fine and getting big. The white one is the most friendly and Yuka's favorite. They are spoiled and get to spend time outdoor on sunny afternoons. We'll send you photos soon. Happy Holidays to you.

Last night we had Bunny up in our loft with us while we were watching the election results. He hopped off the couch and ran around the loft. The 2 dogs were there and one of our cats was on the couch. Bunny had a great time running around the loft and jumping in the air. He went up to the cat and they rubbed noses. He came hopping over to where the dogs were sitting and squeezed in-between them and sat down, the dogs don't bother him unless he darts in front of them quickly. Then they want to chase him, but one word from Lorie or myself stops them in their tracks and they let him roam.

Lejla, I met a very sweet woman at the vet's office today who lives in Silver Lake and has been rescuing baby bunnies from illegal, unethical vendors in Santee Alley downtown. Apparently these vendors are selling unweaned bunnies, with their eyes still closed, to the public - bunnies that usually die within days because the buyers don't know how to care for them. She's saved dozens and judging from the one she had with her, they are incredibly sweet and bonded to people (she is handling their medical care and they are litter trained). I told her I'd spread the word in case anyone out there is thinking of a pet for their family.

...There is some horrendous cruelty going on downtown in Santee Alley regarding baby bunnies and other small animals that people are selling like knoc-off designer jeans, only these are real, live animals. This wonderful lady, Lejla, has devoted herself to saving these baby bunnies and trying to stop the illegal sales and cruel treatment of these helpless little animals by these horrible, worthless individuals (I hesitate to even call them "people"). She is maxed out on room, time and energy... could you please cross-post this e-mail plea and see if anyone out there can help in any way??? Thank you.
- Sharon T.
Hi Lejla! We love them!! They are so sweet...The white one is Lola and the little black one is Emma. Thank you so much for all your hard work and efforts in not only saving these babies but then finding homes for them. You're an angel!!

Dear Lejla, I am looking forward to meeting you and picking up our sweet bunny couple. We will be keeping the pair in my home counseling room. My clients have missed our sweet bunny. Bunnies have a way of quietly accepting and being there. Thank you for your efforts in loving all God's creation.
